This model is largely inspired by the Brescian and Florentine tradition, and is the apple of my eye. It is a completely Italian model, as much as in coception as well in sonority.
Besides many similiraties with the Sófia, the upper and lower bouds have different proportions, in reality much closer to the basses built after the modles of Maggini and Gasparo da Saló. Access to the upper register postiions is suitable for the modern soloist, without losing any of the necessary vibrating area. This creates an instrument which allow for agility and expression, which have a profound sound, with generous lows and gr eat breath.
The back of this model exudes a typical Florentine bulge, in the style of the basses of Gabrielli and Vangelisti. Besides making for an exotic visual, greatly enhanced by the varnish, it guarantees great confort and access in the fourth position.
In this fashion the ribs mantains their full or almost full height until the breakm proportioning a large internal volume of air.
Between us; at this point the back is extremely thin, creating a bountifully accentuated lower-midrange acc.
As it is in all of my instruments, the varnish is totally artisanal. The base is formulated with a composition of linseed oil and turpentine, waxes and resins, that impregnates the wood and besides highlighting the veins, polymerizes and leaves it more resistant and sonorous. Usually two to four coats of base are used.
The other coats (of which there are many!) of color are comprised of alcohol-based varnish, equally artisanal and made according to my own recipe. In it I use traditional resins and essential oils, such as seedlac, sandarac, benzoin, lavender and Venetian turpentine, among others.
Nesse instrumento usei cravelhas feitas sob medida pelo Michael Abarientos. São lindas! Visual clássico mas construção moderna, seguram a entonação como nenhuma outra e são uma delícia de manusear... perfeitas!
